1. What is The LIBRE Initiative®?

Founded in 2011, The LIBRE Initiative® is a 501(c)4 non-partisan, non-profit grassroots organization that advances the principles and values of economic freedom to empower the U.S. Hispanic community so it can thrive and contribute to a more prosperous America.
LIBRE is dedicated to informing the U.S. Hispanic community about the benefits of a constitutionally limited government, property rights, rule of law, sound money supply and free trade through a variety of community events, research and policy initiatives that protect our economic freedom.

Our mission is to equip the Hispanic community with the tools it needs to be prosperous. We are committed to developing a network of Hispanic pro-liberty activists across the United States so that our message reaches every corner of the country.

2. How do you explain economic freedom to the Hispanic community?

Over the last few years, we have seen Washington move us further from the principles of economic freedom and, as a result, we have seen an entire nation suffer the consequences, especially the Hispanic community. Compared to the national average, Hispanics have experienced disproportionate unemployment rates, foreclosed homes, increased child poverty levels and a decreased net worth.

Economic freedom gives individuals equal economic opportunity, full control and responsibility of their property, skills and ideas. It reduces poverty, improves well-being and increases the potential of a brighter future for our families.

Studies show that individuals who live in countries that are economically free enjoy more economic security. For many Hispanics who have left their homeland looking for a better life in the U.S., the principles of economic freedom are proven to be the key to their long-term success.

3. What does LIBRE do to inform the Hispanic community about economic freedom?

We know that the very reason why Hispanics, like many other immigrants, leave their native lands is to prosper and offer their children a brighter future and the opportunity of a life better than their own.

Despite the growing Hispanic demographic, there aren’t enough resources of information available to the Hispanic community to fully understand the contributions they make to the diverse fabric of America and its prosperity. LIBRE provides sources of information, education, and trainings on issues that impact the daily lives of the Hispanic community. More importantly, LIBRE encourages members of our community to raise their voices and actively participate in advancing public policy that seeks to increase their prosperity as contributing members of our society.
