About The Guest

Ángel Hoyos

Ángel Hoyos is dedicated to improving health outcomes for Hispanic communities by helping bridge the gap between medical research and Latino participation in clinical trials. Through his work with Diversia Health, an organization focused on expanding access to clinical research, Ángel is helping connect more Hispanics with opportunities to participate in potentially life-changing medical studies. Recognizing that Latinos have historically been underrepresented in clinical trials, he is working to address barriers such as language, limited access to information, and mistrust of the healthcare system. By connecting underserved communities with medical researchers, Ángel is helping ensure that clinical studies better reflect the diversity of the patients they are intended to serve. His work highlights the importance of Hispanic representation in medical research and how greater participation can lead to more effective treatments, better health outcomes, and potentially life-saving discoveries.

Taste of Traditions

Discover the recipes inspired by the dishes that celebrate our guests’ cultures, traditions, and favorite flavors.

For Ángel Hoyos, few dishes capture the flavors and traditions of Puerto Rico quite like traditional mofongo. Made with fried green plantains mashed with garlic, olive oil or butter, and crispy pork cracklings (chicharrón), this beloved Puerto Rican dish is a celebration of the island’s rich culinary heritage. Often served with savory broth, meat, or seafood, mofongo brings together simple ingredients and bold flavors that have made it a favorite for generations. More than just a meal, it represents the culture, traditions, and unmistakable taste of Puerto Rico.
