ADVISORY: LIBRE – VA to Host Bilingual Digital Townhall on COVID-19 Policies

Special Guest: Medical Society of Northern Virginia Executive Director Claudia Téllez

(Arlington, VA) – The LIBRE Initiative – Virginia, an organization committed to empowering the Hispanic community, will host a bilingual digital townhall to discuss what the Hispanic community needs to know about the COVID-19 pandemic and how recent policy developments will impact their lives.

Additionally, the digital townhall will detail available resources to the general public and how everyone can make a difference to stem the effects of the global pandemic.

The event will be hosted by Michael Monrroy, Virginia coalitions director for The LIBRE Initiative and will include expert analysis from Claudia Tellez, executive director for the Medical Society of Northern Virginia, a northern Virginia non-profit.

Background:

According to a recent study by the Pew Research Center, Hispanics are more likely than the rest of the U.S. population to see COVID-19 as a major threat to their health and finances. Around two-thirds of employed Hispanic adults say they would not get paid if the coronavirus caused them to miss two weeks or more.
