Largest Center-Right Latino Organization Praises Senator Joni Ernst and Representative Aaron Bean for Introducing DOGE In Spending Act

Ohio’s Largest Conservative Latino Grassroots Organization Praises OH Senate for Introducing Flat Tax Proposal

June 5, 2025

(Arlington, VA) – Today, The LIBRE Initiative, the country’s largest center-right Latino organization, issued a statement praising U.S. Senator Joni Ernst and Representative Aaron Bean for introducing the DOGE in Spending Act, legislation that, among other things, will reduce $160 billion in savings by reducing government waste, bringing efficiency, transparency, and accountability to how taxpayer dollars are spent.

Daniel Garza, founder and president of The LIBRE Initiative, issued the following statement:

“Senator Ernst’s DOGE in Spending Act is a great step in assisting Congress in its work to analyze and track spending. It’s crucial that we respect taxpayers’ dollars and help drive down the costs that have led to billions in mismanagement and led to record inflation under the previous administration. Congress and the President must know where taxpayer funds are going to make coherent budgets and to execute the laws properly.”

Background

Recently, The LIBRE Institute issued a poll that found that 84 percent of Latinos are concerned about inflation and the national debt. Click here to read the poll.

Earlier this year, The LIBRE Initiative announced a seven-figure campaign titled: Protecting Prosperity urging lawmakers to extend tax relief for middle-class families. The campaign also includes the launch of www.protectingprosperity.com, where activists and volunteers can take action in favor of extending TCJA. This campaign, released in advance of the looming expiration, shows overwhelming consensus among Latino voters that now is not the time to raise taxes.

Polling shows that Latinos across party lines view the expiration of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which reduced taxes among other benefits, as a tax hike that would hurt middle-class families, consumers, small businesses, and the economy.

The campaign includes digital ads, grassroots events, and congressional accountability efforts to ensure that the new Congress will extend tax relief for middle-class families, including millions of Latino families who have expressed opposition to tax hikes.
