(Arlington, VA) – Today, The LIBRE Initiative, the country’s largest center-right Latino advocacy group, announced plans to launch a seven-figure campaign titled: Protecting Prosperity urging lawmakers to extend tax relief for middle-class families.
This campaign, released in advance of the looming expiration, shows overwhelming consensus among Latino voters that now is not the time to raise taxes. Furthermore, Latinos across party lines view the expiration of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act — which reduced taxes among other benefits—as a tax hike that would hurt middle-class families, consumers, small businesses, and the economy.
The campaign will include digital ads, grassroots events, and congressional accountability efforts to ensure that the new Congress will extend tax relief for middle-class families – including millions of Latino families who have expressed opposition to tax hikes.
Sandra Benitez, executive director of The LIBRE Initiative, issued the following statement announcing the campaign:
“As the country’s largest center-right Latino advocacy group, we are committed to leading the fight to ensure Congress extends critical tax relief for middle-class families.
As the results of the most recent election made clear, a growing number of Latinos are rejecting statist and progressive policies while embracing center-right policies like cutting government waste and supporting tax relief to grow our economy.
Our message is simple: raising taxes on middle-class families threatens our community’s prosperity. Full Stop. Through our targeted efforts, we will ensure that lawmakers reject calls to raise taxes and grow the size of government at the expense of middle-class Latino families. We look forward to mobilizing the full weight of our grassroots army of volunteers and activists to protect our prosperity.”
Helder Toste, Federal Affairs Liaison of The LIBRE Initiative, issued the following statement as well:
“Our community is still trying to recover from the last administration’s record high inflation in large part caused by the admin’s own reckless spending. The last thing Latino families need is the added burden of higher taxes. Extending critical tax relief isn’t just sound economic policy—it’s a lifeline for millions of hardworking families and small businesses who are striving to achieve and maintain the American Dream.
Through the Protecting Prosperity campaign, we are amplifying the voices of Latino families who overwhelmingly agree that now is not the time to raise taxes. This is about protecting opportunity, empowering small businesses, and ensuring that Congress prioritizes the prosperity of the working and middle class. Together, we will work with lawmakers and secure the support our communities deserve.”
