Albuquerque, NM — Today, The LIBRE Initiative announced the launch of a targeted campaign across Albuquerque and Santa Fe urging Senator Martin Heinrich to support pro-permitting reform policies that unlock American energy production, strengthen local economies, and expand opportunity for Hispanic communities in New Mexico.
New Mexico is one of the nation’s top producers of oil and natural gas, playing a critical role in powering the U.S. economy. However, burdensome and outdated permitting processes continue to delay projects, limit job creation, and restrict economic growth across the state.
The campaign, part of LIBRE’s broader Prosperity is Possible initiative, includes Spanish- and English-language advertising. The ads are timed to coincide with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Energy Summit, underscoring the urgent national conversation around energy development, permitting efficiency, and economic growth. The ads highlight the economic barriers created by current permitting delays and call on federal leaders to advance reforms that would accelerate responsible energy development, create jobs, and increase access to affordable energy for families and small businesses.
At the center of this effort is support for the SPEED Act (Streamlining Permitting for Efficient Energy Development Act), legislation designed to modernize and expedite the federal permitting process while maintaining environmental standards. The SPEED Act would reduce unnecessary delays, provide greater regulatory certainty, and help ensure that American energy projects can move forward efficiently.
Latinos are a vital part of both New Mexico’s population and the nation’s energy workforce making up approximately 50% of New Mexico’s population and a growing share of energy jobs nationwide. Expanding access to energy opportunities is critical to advancing economic mobility and long-term prosperity within Hispanic communities.
“New Mexico has enormous energy potential, but outdated permitting processes are holding back opportunity. We’re urging Senator Heinrich to support commonsense reforms like the SPEED Act that help Hispanic families, entrepreneurs, and workers benefit from a stronger and more competitive energy economy.” – said Christie Martinez, Strategic Director for The LIBRE Initiative in New Mexico.
The campaign reflects LIBRE’s long-standing focus on policies that promote economic freedom, limited government, and expanded opportunity for Hispanic Americans. Through its Prosperity is Possible campaign, LIBRE is engaging communities nationwide to elevate policy solutions that drive upward mobility and long-term economic stability.
