(Washington, D.C.) – Today the Attorney General of the United States announced an end to DACA in the months ahead.

Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“Today’s announcement makes it even more important that leaders from both parties act to enact needed reforms. For the hundreds of thousands of immigrants directly affected by DACA, the uncertainty of their legal status continues to undercut their future. They know no other home than the United States. They were brought here through no fault of their own, and are now pursuing educational opportunities, or otherwise contributing to the economy and their communities.

We are encouraged that so many in Congress have come to recognize what we have long argued – that it is time for a durable solution, enacted into law. It is more important than ever that Congress act to remove this barrier that stands between these Dreamers and their full potential. It is long overdue.”
