ICYMI: Latino Advocacy Group Hosts Las Vegas Event Bringing Together Sen. Carrie Buck and the Latino Community

Las Vegas, NV — The LIBRE Initiative, the largest center-right Latino organization in Nevada, hosted its “Capitol Connect” event in Las Vegas on Thursday, August 27, featuring Nevada State Senator Carrie Buck. The event brought together over 125 attendees for a critical conversation on the issues shaping the future of the Silver State, complete with cultural performances celebrating the vibrance of Nevada’s Hispanic community. 

Held at the Factory of Dreams, attendees dug into the affordability crisis, rising housing costs, and the need for expanded education options for Nevada families — concerns backed by LIBRE’s recent national polling, which found that more than 80% of Hispanic voters rate the economy as fair or poor, 70% say housing costs are unaffordable, and only 53% believe the American Dream is still achievable for people like themselves. 

Those concerns hit especially hard in Nevada, where the Latino community isn’t just a growing share of the population — it’s a driving force in the state’s economy. Latinos own roughly20% of Nevada’s businesses — about three times the national average — and power major sectors from construction and hospitality to small business ownership. In Clark County alone, Hispanics make up roughly one-third of residents, underscoring why direct engagement between elected officials and Hispanic families is essential to Nevada’s future. 

While addressing the crowd, State Senator Carrie Buck shared her vision for Nevada families: 

“I believe that all of Nevada’s children and their families deserve the best. It is up to us to break down barriers and get government out of the way to empower everyday Nevadans to build the life they want and to give them the opportunity to reach their American Dream.” 

The event also featured a special recognition from Governor Joe Lombardo honoring 15 years of The LIBRE Initiative’s work empowering Nevada’s Hispanic community. State Senator Lori Rogich also sent well wishes to attendees, underscoring the broad support from policymakers for LIBRE’s mission across the Silver State.
