(Arlington, Virginia) – Today, The LIBRE Initiative, the country’s largest center-right Latino group, issued a statement praising President Donald Trump for signing into law H.R. 1, better known as the One Big Beautiful Bill. The LIBRE Initiative has been mobilizing the Latino community in support of this legislation, in part, because it prevents a massive tax hike on middle-class Americans and job creators.
Daniel Garza, The LIBRE Initiative President, issued this statement following President Trump’s signing of H.R. 1:
“Today is a great day for the Latino community because with President Trump’s signature, middle-class Latino families will avoid having to pay higher taxes next year and can keep more of their hard-earned money to save, spend, and invest as they see fit.
As we know, two years after the original 2017 Trump Tax Cuts went into effect, the Latino unemployment rate dropped to a historic low, while Latino entrepreneurship and homeownership rates skyrocketed.
President Trump and congressional leaders took one important step toward continuing to grow our economy and expand opportunity for all by getting the Tax Cuts across the finish line.
LIBRE looks forward to educating the Latino community about the benefits of this pro-growth legislation.”
Background About The LIBRE Initiative:
The LIBRE Initiative is a non-partisan, nonprofit grassroots organization dedicated to empowering the U.S. Hispanic community. We focus on promoting economic freedom, educational opportunities, and a path to prosperity for all. By advocating for policy changes at both the local and national levels, we aim to ensure that the American Dream remains attainable for everyone.
Background on Protect Prosperity – LIBRE campaign in support of Trump Tax Cuts:
Earlier this year, LIBRE announced a seven-figure campaign titled: Protecting Prosperity , urging lawmakers to extend tax relief for middle-class families. The campaign also includes the launch of www.protectingprosperity.com where activists and volunteers can take action in favor of extending TCJA. This campaign, released in advance of the looming expiration, shows overwhelming consensus among Latino voters that now is not the time to raise taxes.
Polling shows that Latinos across party lines view the expiration of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act as a tax hike that would hurt middle-class families, consumers, small businesses, and the economy.
The campaign includes digital ads, grassroots events, and congressional accountability efforts to ensure that the new Congress will extend tax relief for middle-class families, including millions of Latino families who have expressed opposition to tax hikes.
