The Latino class of 2025: 5 lawmakers leading economic reform
January 23, 2025
Last November, Americans sent a clear message to Washington: they want solutions.
Latinos, especially, voted in a once-in-a-generation political shift to turn the page on the failed economic policies of the last four years.
The new Congress and President Donald Trump have the task of delivering on the people’s mandate and transforming campaign promises into good policy.
They won’t be alone in the fight.
The LIBRE Initiative, alongside a vanguard of Latino members of Congress, will be pushing for freedom-oriented policies that benefit all Americans:
- Extending the 2017 Trump tax cuts, protecting millions of Americans from a massive tax hike
- Pushing for energy abundance by removing burdensome barriers in the American energy industry
- Advocating for policies to lower costs, provide wider choices, and expand access to quality health care
Here are five Latino lawmakers who’ll play a key role in the fight:
U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno
Sen. Bernie Moreno knows firsthand that economic freedom is the not-so-secret ingredient behind America’s success.
The first Latino to be elected as senator in Ohio, Moreno was born in Colombia and was 8 years old when his family immigrated to America and built themselves a new life and their own version of the American Dream.
Following his family’s example, Moreno worked day and night to make a future for himself. He invested all he had to buy his first car dealership, which he turned into a sprawling network of over a dozen dealerships across Ohio.
After a successful business career, Moreno decided to give back to America.
He saw how the destructive top-down economic policies of the Biden administration wreaked havoc on the Ohio economy, and he chose to do something about it.
He pulled off a major victory against a well-funded opponent in U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, a staunch supporter of big-government policies during his 18 years in office.
U.S. Rep. Juan Ciscomani
Rep. Juan Ciscomani, just like millions of Latinos like you, is a strong advocate for the American Dream — he’ll be a reliable voice pushing for freedom-oriented policies that will unleash America’s immense potential.
In Arizona’s 6th District, just east of Tucson, almost 1 in 3 people are Latinos, and the people of Arizona reelected Ciscomani because he fiercely defended America from the outgoing administration’s destructive top-down economic policies.
But his commitment to the people of Arizona goes way back. Before Congress, he was a senior adviser to the Arizona-Mexico Commission under former Gov. Doug Ducey. He was also a member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, where he was instrumental in bringing real solutions to the people of Arizona.
U.S. Rep. Gabe Evans
A veteran with a proven service record, Gabe Evans is the newly elected representative of Colorado’s 8th Congressional District, a few miles north of Denver.
He won a hard-fought election in a district where almost 4 in 10 residents are Latinos by promising to bring proven solutions to the woes caused by the Biden administration’s economic policies.
First with the National Guard and then as a police officer, Evans has dedicated his life to defending America’s freedoms and liberties from foreign enemies and lawlessness.
Now, he’ll work in Washington, D.C. to eliminate government barriers keeping millions of Americans from reaching their full potential.
U.S. Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar
A renowned journalist turned popular politician, Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar was reelected to her fourth term as a representative of Florida’s 27th congressional district in the heart of Miami.
During her successful career as a journalist, she was a stalwart defender of freedom and democracy at home and abroad. Salazar has been a trusted voice in defending liberty and economic prosperity in America.
As a representative of one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in America, Salazar will defend, protect, and expand the policies that made prosperity possible in America.
U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz
A small business owner from Texas who was elected to Congress in 2022 to represent Texas’ 15th Congressional District, Rep. Monica De La Cruz is a committed defender of the American Dream.
After years as a business owner, she has hands-on knowledge of how an overbearing government limits the potential and livelihoods of driven, hardworking Americans.
Going all the way from the southern border up to the outskirts of San Antonio, De La Cruz represents one of the most Latino districts in America, with 8 in 10 residents being Latinos.
During her first term in office, she reliably defended freedom-oriented policies that will bring much-needed respite for millions of Americans who’ve suffered due to an overbearing government.
Over the last eight years, Latinos in South Texas have decisively turned their backs on the failed economic policies of the past and are now voting for economic freedom in droves.
Last November, Americans voted for freedom-based solutions to the big issues America faces.
Washington has the duty to fulfill this mandate, and these five Latino lawmakers will lead the charge to make it a reality.
