ICYMI: The LIBRE Initiative Convened Northern Nevada’s Hispanic Community in Reno for Capitol Connect Event

Reno, NV— The LIBRE Initiative, the largest center-right Latino organization in Nevada, hosted its Capitol Connect event on Saturday evening, September 19, 2026, bringing together Northern Nevada community leaders and Hispanic families for an open dialogue on the issues shaping the future of the Silver State. The evening also marked a major milestone — 15 years since LIBRE’s founding — with a program that leaned into Quinceañera traditions and coincided with Hispanic Heritage Month. 

Held at the Rancharrah Clubhouse in Reno, the night featured cultural performances, a fireside chat with Isabel Graff, Legislative Director for Governor Joe Lombardo, and candid conversations about the challenges facing Nevada families today — from the affordability crisis and rising housing costs to expanding educational opportunities for their children. Attendees were also presented with a proclamation from Governor Lombardo recognizing LIBRE’s 15th anniversary and its work on behalf of Nevada’s Hispanic community. 

In her remarks, Graff stated: “Governor Lombardo believes in getting government out of the way, building a diverse and competitive economy, and giving every Nevadan the best shot at achieving the American Dream. We are committed to preventing tax increases, advancing permitting and occupational licensing reform, and building an education system that meets the needs of individual families.” 

Eddie Diaz, Nevada Strategic Director for The LIBRE Initiative, issued the following statement: 

“Fifteen years ago, The LIBRE Initiative was founded with the belief that Hispanic families deserve more than to be talked about — we deserve to be part of the conversation. That belief has guided our work every day since, and it’s the foundation of everything our Nevada state chapter does across the Silver State. Northern Nevada’s Hispanic community is central to this state’s identity and its future, and this Capitol Connect event allowed us to bring families together to celebrate what we’ve built and ensure our community’s voice keeps growing stronger.”
