What Latino voters think about the economy
August 18, 2025
Last November, Latino voters were 1 in 6 of all eligible voters, and they played a key role in the 2024 elections.
But Latinos aren’t just influential at the ballot box. They contribute $4.1 trillion to the U.S. gross domestic product and own and operate 1 in 4 new small businesses.
Latino voters are poised to be the deciding factor in many of our biggest policy fights.
That’s why it’s so important to understand what’s important to the Latino community.
Fortunately, we have the data.
Our sister organization, The LIBRE Institute, conducted a nationwide poll of Latinos to capture their perspectives on the issues shaping America’s future.
Here are some key takeaways from the poll:
(Spoiler alert: It’s all about the economy.)
What are Latino voters saying about the economy?
Unsurprisingly, the economy is the most important issue (by far) for most Latinos.
According to the poll:
- More than 8 in 10 Latinos list an economic issue as their No. 1 concern — with 47% rating the economy and jobs as their top priority, followed closely by inflation, with 35%.
- A whopping 86% of Latinos polled say that inflation has affected them personally.
- More than 6 in 10 Latinos are pessimistic about the state of the economy, with 61% saying they expect the economy to get worse.
- Latinos strongly believe in the free market, with 79% of Latino voters saying free markets are the best way to create an economy that works for all.
Watch Jeffrey Baldwin, director of The LIBRE Institute, break down the poll numbers in the video below.
Latino voters are rallying behind free markets.
Latinos want a prosperous economy that leaves no one behind.
Thankfully, there are two ideas with a proven track record of creating prosperity for millions: free markets and limited government — and Latinos believe in both.
Here’s what the poll shows:
At LIBRE, we’ve seen firsthand how Latinos are rejecting the false promises of government intervention in the economy and embracing free markets as the recipe for success.
The latest poll numbers reflect what we hear every day in our communities.
Latinos are all-in for keeping the Trump tax cuts.
When it comes to taxes, Latino voters are clear: They don’t want them to increase.
The poll found strong support for making the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent, a key part of the recently passed One Big Beautiful Bill.
Latinos have good reasons to be strong defenders of the Trump tax cuts.
Why?
- They led to the lowest Hispanic unemployment rate in history.
- Latino income rose to unprecedented levels after the Trump tax cuts.
- If the Trump tax cuts expired, the average American household would have paid $1,500 more in taxes every year.

Latino voters & the economy: 5 things to remember.
- The economy is their No. 1 issue: Ignore the noise coming from the beltway — the top concern for Latinos is the economy, ahead of immigration, education, and health care.
- Inflation hit Latinos hard: The runaway inflation of the Biden administration left Latinos reeling, and they’re just now starting to recover from it.
- They trust free markets over government control: Latinos trust themselves and their fellow Americans over unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats in Washington.
- Tax hikes are a no-no: Few things annoy Latinos more than tax hikes.
- Small business matters: With Latinos owning and operating 1 in 4 new small businesses, they are acutely aware of the disastrous effects of high taxes and government control of the economy.

These poll results are a call to action, not only for Latinos nationwide, but for decision-makers in Washington.
Daniel Garza, president and founder of The LIBRE initiative, put it best:
“This poll isn’t just about data — it’s a wake-up call. Latino communities across the country are speaking up about the issues that affect their daily lives: the rising cost of living, a broken immigration system, and an economy that’s leaving working families behind. The question now is whether Washington is ready to act.”
At The LIBRE Initiative, we’re making sure Washington hears your voice and acts on it.
But we need the help of people like you.
