LIBRE Urges U.S. House to Approve H.R.1 for Pro-Growth Tax Relief that Strengthens Latino Economic Opportunity

Arlington, VA (5/21/25) — Tonight, the House Rules Committee approved H.R. 1. The LIBRE Initiative, the largest center-right Hispanic organization,  is urging members to support the legislation, which would directly benefit entrepreneurs, workers, and families across the country, many of whom are Latinos.

Sandra Benitez, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative, issued the following statement: 

“We urge the House to vote in favor of this bill to keep economic opportunity within reach for those who are building, hiring, and contributing to our local economies every day. The time is now for this bill to move forward to the Senate. Latinos, and all Americans, are powering economic growth through entrepreneurship, innovation, and an unmatched work ethic. This tax package would help preserve a low-tax environment that fuels small businesses, rewards hard work, and helps more families achieve the American Dream.”

Recent Hispanic Polling on Taxes:

• 93% of Hispanics said they would be concerned if their taxes went up,
  • 65% said they would be very concerned,
• 74% of Hispanic seniors said they would be very concerned about their taxes going up.
• 73% of Hispanic voters say the amount of taxes they pay is too high,
  • 39% say taxes are way too high.
