LIBRE-Texas Endorses Three State House Candidates Ahead of November Election

September 15, 2026

The LIBRE Initiative-Texas endorsed three candidates for the Texas House of Representatives ahead of the November 3 general election, backing a slate of South Texas leaders who have delivered for Hispanic families and are ready to build on that record in the 2027 legislative session.

From the Rio Grande Valley to the Coastal Bend, these lawmakers represent communities where hard work, family, and small businesses are the foundation of daily life. LIBRE-TX’s endorsed candidates have pledged to champion policies that make it easier to launch and grow a business, put more money back in workers’ pockets, and give parents the power to choose the education that fits their children best.

Endorsed candidates for the 2026 election are:

  • State Rep. Janie Lopez (HD-37)
  • State Rep. Denise Villalobos (HD-34)
  • State Rep. Don McLaughlin (HD-80)

Jorge Martinez, Texas Strategic Director for The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“Hispanic families across Texas are working hard, raising their kids, and building small businesses, and they deserve leaders in Austin who have their backs. Representatives Lopez, Villalobos, and McLaughlin have shown they’ll put working families first, pushing for lower costs, better schools, and more freedom. LIBRE Texas is proud to stand with them, and we’ll be in Hispanic neighborhoods every day between now and November making sure our voters know who is on their side.”
