Arlington, VA (9/5/25) – The LIBRE Initiative, the nation’s largest center-right Latino organization, today announced its strong support for the America’s Children Act, introduced by Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-02), Rep. Deborah Ross (NC-02), Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08), Maria Salazar (FL-27), Ami Bera (CA-06), and Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06).
The bill provides a pathway to stability for the children of legal immigrants who risk “aging out” of status. By ensuring these young people many of whom were raised in the U.S. can pursue continue to pursue higher education, build careers, contribute to our country in meaningful ways, and have a shot at the American Dream.
Daniel Garza, president of The LIBRE Initiative, issued the following statement:
“The America’s Children Act ensures that young people raised in this country can continue to pursue their dreams without fear of losing their legal status. Legal immigrants should not be punished by a backlogged immigration system. By offering a commonsense solution, this bill reflects the values of hard work, family, and opportunity that Hispanic communities hold dear.”
The LIBRE Initiative additionally applauds Representatives: Hank Johnson, Chrissy Houlahan, Pramila Jayapal, Scott Peters, Mary Gay Scanlon, Suzan DelBene, Shri Thanedar, Greg Stanton, Dave Min, Brian Fitzpatrick, Don Bacon, Jay Obernolte, John Rutherford, Zachary Nunn for their support of this bipartisan common-sense bill.
Senators Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced companion legislation in the Senate. This bill has garnered the additional support of Senators Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), John Curtis (R-Utah), Angus King (I-Maine), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska).
