(Austin, TX) – Today, The LIBRE Initiative, the largest center-right Latino organization in Texas, released a statement praising the overwhelming enrollment among Texan families to apply for the Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA).
According to the Texas Comptroller, more than 42,000 students applied for Texas Education Freedom Accounts (TEFA) on the first day of the program’s launch. The total represents a nationwide record for most enrollments for day one of a new school choice program,
Founded in Mission, TX, The LIBRE Initiative has consistently supported greater educational freedom for all, including Texan families, because parents should be able to customize an education plan that best suits their children.

Jorge Martinez, LIBRE Strategic Director, issued the following statement:
“In case there was any doubt, the record enrollment for TEFA applications we are seeing is proof positive that Texan families support educational freedom and school choice.
Thanks to Governor Greg Abbott, Texas now has the country’s largest school choice program in the country providing many Texan families with the ability to customize an educational plan that works for every child.
Since our start, LIBRE has championed school choice because we know that Texans – including Texas’ Latino families – stand to benefit from increased choice in education.
In the weeks and months to come, LIBRE will use every opportunity to educate and activate the Latino community to enroll in TEFA and help pave the way for increased expansion for this critical lifeline to make Texas an even better place to live, raise a family, and receive a quality education.”
