(Harrisburg, PA) – Following Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s budget unveiling, The LIBRE Initiative, a Latino advocacy group in PA, issued a statement criticizing the proposal because it will result in increased government spending and increased taxes.
Jennie Dallas, LIBRE’s strategic director, said the following:
“Let’s be clear, the proposed $53.2 billion budget is loaded with unnecessary spending that will make it harder for us to address the state’s $5 billion deficit. Instead of growing government, we urge Gov. Shapiro to work with lawmakers – from both sides of the aisle – and do what most Pennsylvanians must do every month: live within our means.
Unless we pump the brakes on state spending, inflation and reduced economic opportunities will make it harder for Pennsylvanian families – including Latinos – to pursue their version of the American Dream.”
