LIBRE Applauds House Passage of the SPEED Act to Unleash American Energy and Job Creation

Statement from The LIBRE Initiative on H.R. 6704, the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Act of 2025

December 18, 2025

Arlington, VA — Today, The LIBRE Initiative, the nation’s largest center-right Latino advocacy organization, welcomed the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 4776 The SPEED Act, bipartisan legislation that takes a critical step toward modernizing America’s broken permitting process and unlocking domestic energy production.

The SPEED Act advances commonsense reforms to help lower costs, strengthen energy security, and create good-paying jobs for working families, including millions of Latinos employed across the energy and construction sector by:

  • streamlining federal permitting,
  • reducing duplicative reviews, and
  • providing certainty for energy and infrastructure projects.

Sandra Benitez, Executive Director for The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“Today’s vote is a major win for American workers, consumers, and our nation’s energy future. By passing the SPEED Act, the House took action toward removing unnecessary bureaucratic barriers that delay projects, drive up costs, and threaten jobs. Latino workers play a vital role in America’s energy and infrastructure workforce, and these reforms will help ensure their livelihoods aren’t trapped in regulatory limbo. Latinos represent a growing share of the energy, construction, and skilled trades workforce—industries that are disproportionately harmed by permitting delays and regulatory uncertainty.

By accelerating responsible project approvals and improving interagency coordination, the SPEED Act helps ensure America can meet rising energy demand while supporting job creation and economic growth. The LIBRE Initiative applauds the lawmakers who supported the SPEED Act and demonstrated leadership in advancing pragmatic, pro-growth reforms. As the legislation moves forward, LIBRE urges continued action to ensure America’s energy policies empower workers, strengthen communities, and keep energy affordable for families across the country.”
