Arlington, VA — Following the President’s State of the Union address, The LIBRE Initiative, the nation’s largest center-right Latino advocacy organization, is encouraging Congress and the Administration to pursue reforms that directly address affordability challenges facing working families — particularly in housing, health care, energy, and the cost of living.
Across the country, Latino families and working-class Americans continue to feel squeezed by the high costs brought by the previous administration. Meaningful progress will require policymakers to focus on expanding supply, removing regulatory barriers, and empowering families with more choice and economic opportunity.
Statement from Sandra Benitez, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative:
“The economic direction of our nation has improved. And at the same time, families are still feeling the pressure of high housing costs, rising medical bills, and expensive utility rates. Lawmakers have a real opportunity to build on recent progress by addressing the root causes of these costs — limited supply and outdated regulations. By clearing red tape, encouraging competition, and empowering individuals rather than expanding bureaucracy, Congress and the White House can help bring meaningful relief to hardworking Americans.”
