The LIBRE Initiative Launches Video Ads Highlighting The Urgency to Preserve Trump Tax Cuts

The LIBRE Initiative Texas Praises Texas House of Representatives for Approving ESA Legislation

April 16, 2025

Arlington, VA (4/16/25) — The LIBRE Initiative, the nation’s largest center-right Latino organization, is launching a new video ad campaign titled “We Cannot Afford Tax Hike” informing the Hispanic community of the urgency for lawmakers to renew the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA)—a law that played a crucial role in empowering Latino families, creating jobs, and helping small businesses thrive. With the TCJA set to expire at the end of this year, the campaign warns of the consequences if Congress fails to act, including higher taxes for hardworking families and increased burdens on the small business community.

The new ad centers around a group of Latinos discussing the need to renew the Trump Tax Cuts to ensure that the economy can grow.

The average Latino family will see a $1,500 tax increase in next year’s Tax Day unless Congress renews the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts.

Excerpts from the ad:

“We used to live in the highest cost of living in a generation

Now we are facing a new threat. The expiration of the 2017 taxes cuts and job act

Which would mean higher taxes for you and our business community

And we put the American dream further out of reach for so many

The Trumps cuts actually saved my business back then

Si (yes) and they saved me thousands of dollars

no entiendo (I don’t understand) we cannot go backwards

The Trumps tax cuts created jobs, rescued small businesses and helped the middle-class families. If Congress doesn’t act by the end of the year, it’s going to cost the Latino families $1,500 more in taxes annually

We’re working with lawmakers and thought leaders building alliances and breaking down the political barriers getting the way of our children’s American Dream

We cannot afford this tax height.”

The Protecting Prosperity ad campaign emphasizes that letting these tax cuts expire could cost Latino families up to $1,500 more annually in taxes—a move that would disproportionately impact working-class households already struggling with rising costs.

Through Protecting Prosperity, LIBRE continues its mission of advocating for policies that remove barriers to opportunity and ensure the American Dream remains within reach for all—especially the Latino community.
