Book Tour or Governing? Latino Group Calls Out Gov. Shapiro

January 28, 2026

Harrisburg, PA – The LIBRE Initiative, a Latino Pennsylvania advocacy group, issued a statement following reports that PA Governor Shapiro is in New York City promoting his book while Keystone State Latinos are hurting under his punitive energy policies, stifling local economic growth.

Jennie Dallas, LIBRE strategic director, issued the following statement:

“All Pennsylvanians – including our state’s Latino community – expect their governor to laser focus on enacting policies expanding growth and opportunity. Unfortunately, Gov. Shapiro appears to be increasingly interested in traveling outside the state to promote his book while contemplating national aspirations, rather than focusing on the bread-and-butter issues that keep most Pennsylvanians up at night.

For most, it’s the economy and job creation.

Unfortunately, since taking office, Gov. Shapiro has opened the spigot to government spending while enacting burdensome energy regulations that crush economic growth and opportunity.

We urge Gov. Shapiro to pause racking up the frequent flyer miles and look for ways to work with lawmakers, from both sides of the aisle in Harrisburg.”
