Myth busting lies about the One Big Beautiful Bill
July 30, 2025
Latino families across America just dodged the biggest tax hike in recent history, now that the One Big Beautiful Bill is law.
However, some critics are scrambling to spin the truth by recycling tired, false attacks on the bill to protect Washington, not the American public.
But facts are stubborn things. And when it comes to the One Big Beautiful Bill, the facts are crystal clear.
So, let’s separate fact from fiction and see how this law will help people like you:
Myth 1: “A tax cut for the rich”
This is the most repeated talking point that’s thrown against the bill. And it couldn’t be further from the truth.
If not for the One Big Beautiful Bill, 6 in 10 Americans would face a historic tax hike.
For example, this law will save $1,889 every year for a single mother of three earning $55,000.
That’s hardly a giveaway for the very rich.
Thanks to this bill, millions of hardworking Latinos will have more money in their pockets to pay for groceries and housing, save for the future, or invest in the economy.
What’s more, Latino small businesses (1 in 4 of every new small business) will benefit immensely as it keeps their taxes from rising.
For Latino entrepreneurs like Angelica Betancourt, extending the Trump tax cuts will give her the opportunity to expand her business and build her American Dream.
This law will keep more of your money, giving you the chance to build your future.
It’s not a tax cut for the rich, but a tax cut for you.
Myth 2: “The law cuts Medicaid for those in need.”
This law doesn’t cut Medicaid; it saves it.
Medicaid was created to serve the most vulnerable, not to be misused by fully healthy adults. This law ensures that Medicaid goes back to the basics.
Our current system is broken, plagued by inefficiency, fraud, improper payments, and waiting lists that hurt the very people it’s supposed to protect.
With around 6 million Latinos using Medicaid, we can’t afford to ignore the problems that will bankrupt Medicaid in the future.
Rather than throwing more money at the problem, this legislation focuses on effective reform.
By streamlining the program and giving states more flexibility, Medicaid will better serve vulnerable communities, including low-income families, pregnant women, and people with disabilities.
Myth 3: “The tax cuts created the deficit.”
Critics love to blame tax cuts for our deficits and debt. But they’re ignoring the real culprit behind our massive national debt: runaway government spending.
Federal spending has more than tripled since 2001. It’s unfair to saddle everyday Americans with high taxes just to pay for Washington’s recklessness.
The best way to get the debt under control is to grow the economy and reduce spending. And the One Big Beautiful Bill does both:
- It makes permanent the 2017 Trump tax cuts that brought low unemployment, economic growth, and high wages.
- It cuts around $1.79 trillion in government spending, a good step in our path toward fiscal responsibility.
America needs to get the debt under control, but we can’t squeeze hardworking Latinos and Americans to pay for Washington’s mistakes.
Why this bill matters to Latinos
Don’t let the myths confuse you — this bill will help Latinos across America by:
- Saving millions of hardworking Latinos from the biggest tax hike in history
- Spurring economic growth and cutting spending
- Reforming Medicaid and ensuring it’s there to help the people who need it the most
- Unleashing the full potential of American energy
