The blueprint on immigration: 2 commonsense solutions

October 22, 2025

When it comes to immigration, the American people want Washington to secure the border and fix the system.

A recent poll from our sister organization, The LIBRE Institute, confirms it.

And you know what? They’re right.

America deserves a secure border and an immigration system that works.

So, here’s our revolutionary idea on immigration: Let’s listen to the American people.

Here’s what we mean:

On the border: Law and order

A functioning immigration system requires a secure border.

Until this year, the border was in complete chaos.

Under President Biden, there were tens of thousands of illegal crossings every month, a total breakdown of the rule of law, and the administration was unable or unwilling to deal with the crisis.

This border chaos put an immense strain on local communities and put our national security at risk, as law enforcement was overwhelmed with the sheer size and scope of the crisis.

Last November, Americans voted for change. And today, the results speak for themselves.

Today, the border is under control as the new administration has cleaned up the mess left by the previous one.

Illegal crossings are at a record low, communities aren’t under overwhelming strain, and the recently passed working families tax cuts will ensure there are enough resources to keep the border and America safe.

Americans voted for a secure southern border, and today we have one.

Now it’s time to address the second half of the equation: our broken immigration system.

On immigration: Commonsense updates for America

Our immigration system needs some serious updates.

Outdated, complicated, and confusing rules make it difficult for good, honest, hardworking people to come to America legally and contribute to this country.

Want to know how convoluted it is? Consider some examples:

  • Right now, priests and ministers devoting their lives to parishes here in America are often required to leave the country and their parishioners for a year for no reason other than red tape.
  • Young adults who are legally here in America and who have spent most of their lives in America will lose their legal status for the great crime of turning 21 because our system is so backlogged.
  • Many workers are eager to jump into vital roles and contribute in the industries where they’re needed most, yet they lack an official path to help the economy grow.

It’s time to bring some clarity and common sense to our immigration system, and at LIBRE, we have some simple fixes for these problems.

Quick fixes to our immigration system

Here are some of the solutions that will make our immigration system better:

  • America’s Children Act: Keeps legal immigrant kids from aging out of status — if they’ve stayed legal, graduated from college, and came here lawfully, they can apply to stay.
  • Essential Workers Act: Lets employers hire legal foreign workers for hard-to-fill jobs like restaurants and construction — while protecting American workers with strict rules.
  • Religious Workforce Act: Stops faith leaders from being kicked out mid-ministry by letting them stay legally while they wait for their green card.

We all win when we have a predictable, fair, and streamlined immigration system. These simple solutions will help us get there.

The border is secure. Now it’s time to fix the system.

That’s what Americans want.
