LIBRE brings Washington to you with Capitol Connect events
October 4, 2024
Millions of Latinos across the country are struggling to afford groceries and fill up their gas tanks.
It’s no surprise a vast majority of Latinos are pessimistic about the future of America and think the American Dream is no longer affordable for them.
Washington must listen to the concerns of the Latino community — and that’s where The LIBRE Initiative’s Capitol Connect comes in.
LIBRE is bringing Washington to Latinos. The highlight of the events are panel discussions, where key decision-makers and policy champions connect with the Latino community in their town and states to discuss pro-freedom solutions to Latino problems.
For more than a decade, thousands of dedicated LIBRE activists have been making the case for economic freedom to Latino communities across the country.
Capitol Connect is critical to empowering Latinos, mobilizing the community, educating Hispanics on pro-freedom solutions, and creating an opportunity for Latinos to make their voice heard .
Over the last few weeks, LIBRE hosted events in states like Michigan and Colorado to advocate for the policy ideas that will help Americans thrive and make prosperity possible again.
In commemoration of Hispanic Heritage Month, LIBRE has doubled its efforts and brought key decision-makers to Latinos across the nation.
The top issue in the minds of Latinos?
The cost of living.
In Michigan, former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers met with scores of LIBRE volunteers and Latinos in Grand Rapids to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Rogers, an army veteran and a small business owner, talked with LIBRE Policy Director Isabel Soto about the issues they face, and emphasized the importance of protecting freedom in America.
Here’s what Rogers told LIBRE’s Israel Ortega:
“The issue I hear most is the cost of goods and services. Almost 60% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, so when food prices go up from bad policies in Washington, it matters.”
Soto and Rogers discussed how the freedom to choose the best education for your kids, the freedom to have affordable energy, and the freedom to start your own business are key to expanding prosperity to millions of Americans.

In Colorado, state Representative Gabe Evans and LIBRE President Daniel Garza met with dozens of Latinos in Northglenn who strongly believe in freedom and the American experiment — but are deeply worried about the direction America is heading.
Coloradans have good reason to be worried about America’s future. In the Centennial State, the average household spends almost $1,400 more every month to buy the same goods and services than they did just three years ago.

As the grandson of Mexican immigrants and an army veteran, Rep. Evans knows very well that liberty is the key for America’s success and that Latinos are at the frontlines in the fight to defend that freedom.
The solution to the challenges Latinos face is the same: to stalwartly defend the liberties that made America prosperous.
Energy independence, educational liberty, immigration reform, and economic liberty are some policies that will keep the flame of American freedom alight and reignite the American Dream for millions of Latinos.
Colorado and Michigan are not the only states where LIBRE is bringing Washington to the people: LIBRE’s Capitol Connect is helping millions of Latinos make their voice heard in Washington, D.C.
