LIBRE Applauds The Senate for Advancing a Clean Continuing Resolution

Senate Democrats Played Politics for the last 40+ days

(Arlington, VA) — Tonight, the U.S. Senate passed a clean Continuing Resolution (CR) to reopen the federal government and end weeks of unnecessary disruption.

The LIBRE Initiative—the nation’s largest center-right Latino organization—issued the following statement from Executive Director Sandra Benitez:

“We applaud the Senate for taking an important step toward restoring stability and reopening the government. Passing a clean CR is the responsible move that hardworking Americans have been waiting for from day one.

Let’s be clear — this shutdown never should have happened. From the beginning, Democrats refused to support the commonsense funding measure that would have kept the government open. Their political brinkmanship left families uncertain, delayed essential services, and hurt small businesses across the country. For weeks, Democrats put politics ahead of people, using federal workers and families as leverage in a political game that should never have been played.

We look forward to seeing the House move swiftly to approve this bill so we can finally end this manufactured crisis by the Democrats. Moving forward, Congress must commit to preventing future shutdowns by passing the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act and keeping their focus on pro-growth policies that expand opportunity and prosperity for all Americans — including the Latino community that continues to drive our nation’s economic success.”
