Raising Taxes on ANY American Should Be Off the Table: LIBRE

Raising Taxes on ANY American Should Be Off the Table: LIBRE

May 9, 2025

Arlington, VA (5/9/25) —Today, The LIBRE Initiative, the country’s largest center-right Latino advocacy group, issued a statement in response to news that some U.S. House Republicans are considering raising taxes on small business owners and job creators.

Sandra Benitez, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative, issued the following statement:

“At a time when Latino families, and all families across the country, continue to pursue a better economy than the last four years, it’s outrageous that Congress would even consider raising taxes in this economy, and at the same time refuse to eliminate the trillions of dollars in waste from Joe Biden’s Green New Scam. Let’s be clear: Tax hikes hurt all Americans. They threaten small businesses, job creation, and the very promise of the American Dream. 97% of Latinos are opposed to any tax hikes because we want opportunity and economic freedom to provide for ourselves and our families. Our message to House Republicans considering supporting a tax increase is: Do not put a tax on the American Dream.”
