White House Responds to LIBRE; Again Dismisses Health Care Cost Concerns

(Washington, D.C.) – Earlier today the LIBRE Initiative released video of the President dismissing concerns from a Hispanic family about the high cost of insurance policies under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. The White House took to Twitter to criticize news reporters who covered the story.

Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative released the following statement:

"From health care, to the economy, to immigration, this Administration is taking Hispanic support for granted and ignoring our legitimate concerns. And once again, the White House is blaming the messenger instead of working to fix problems.

It's true that the President gave a very lengthy response when asked about families that simply can not afford his expensive health care system. He repeated the same promises he has made time and again. He asserted that most families are better off – despite the awful enrollment numbers . And he blamed others for the effects of his law. These excuses and misdirections won't work anymore. The LIBRE Initiative will continue to inform Latinos about elected officials who are putting politics before people, and to give them the tools to hold those politicians accountable.

Instead of attacking its critics, this Administration should focus on fixing the economy, fixing health care, and reforming our broken immigration system."
