The LIBRE Initiative – VA to Host Digital Townhall with Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on Economic Impact as a Result of COVID-19

(Arlington, VA) – The LIBRE Initiative – Virginia, an organization committed to empowering the Latino community, will host a digital townhall with Michel Zajur, Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce CEO, to discuss the economic impact of COVID-19 on the Latino community in Virginia.

The digital townhall will be hosted by Michael Monrroy, coalitions director for the Virginia chapter of The LIBRE Initiative.

The bilingual conversation will cover a broad range of topics including available tools and resources for individuals and families experiencing job loss and financial insecurity. Additionally, the townhall will provide practical advice for Hispanic business owners struggling during the COVID-19 epidemic.

Background:      

According to a recent study by the Pew Research Center, Hispanics are more likely than the rest of the U.S. population to see COVID-19 as a major threat to their health and finances. Around two-thirds of employed Hispanic adults say they would not get paid if the coronavirus caused them to miss two weeks or more.
