Tax Reform Would Benefit Workers, Families

(Washington, D.C.) – Today the White House released a summary of the president’s tax proposal, which will inform the debate over tax reform that is beginning in Congress.

Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“Hispanic families can be encouraged at the progress being made toward simplifying the tax code and reducing the tax burden so workers and families can benefit from greater economic opportunity. The plan released by the White House today doubles the standard deduction to help low-income families, limits tax rates on small and family-owned businesses, simplifies income tax brackets, and reduces high taxes that hurts U.S. businesses competing in the international marketplace. If Congress adopts reforms such as these, they will increase economic opportunity for American workers and families, and let them keep more of their hard-earned dollars. That would be good news for Hispanics – and others – trying to achieve their American Dream.

In the days and weeks ahead, the team at The LIBRE Initiative will continue to engage with the Hispanic community on government policies that hamper economic growth – and discuss how effective tax reform holds the potential to boost our economy. We look forward to promoting prosperity for Hispanic families by supporting and working for real reform.”
