Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Improvements Bill Breaks Down Barriers To Educational Attainment

(ATLANTA, GA) –  The LIBRE Initiative-Georgia, an organization committed to empowering the U.S. Hispanic community, praised Georgia Lawmakers for passing SB 47 through the Senate, a revision of the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Act, that extends the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship to all students with special needs.

David Casas, The LIBRE Initiative’s Community Engagement Director in Georgia, issued the following statement:

“Now more than ever, it is important that all families and students have options and the most vulnerable students are supported. We are thrilled to see that lawmakers are taking steps to make the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship more inclusive, so all students with special needs can get the support they need to succeed.”

He went on to add:

“Thank you Sen. Steve Gooch for sponsoring this bill and shepherding it through the Senate. Special needs students are struggling to adapt to virtual learning without the resources they need. For their sake, we urge the house to pass this bill and get it to the Governor’s desk quickly.”

Background:
The LIBRE Initiative has long advocated for education reform that prioritizes students and families.
