Passage of Education Bill SB 47 Is Important Win For Students With Special Needs
We urge the Gov to sign this into law without delay!
(ATLANTA, GA) –  On Monday, SB 47, a revision to the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Act, passed through both chambers of the Georgia Legislature. This legislation expands eligibility requirements, so more students with special needs can access the resources they need to succeed.

David Casas, The LIBRE Initiative’s Community Engagement Director in Georgia, released the following statement:

“We applaud Georgia lawmakers for supporting students with special needs. We would like to thank Sen. Gooch for sponsoring SB 47 and shepherding it through both chambers. It is now up to Gov. Kemp to sign this legislation into law swiftly, so more students with special needs can access the educational options vital to their success.”

He went on to add:

“We are encouraged by the growing support for more inclusive education legislation that funds families and students, not only systems. Still, we remain committed to promoting education legislation that empowers all families and students in Georgia to customize their education experience.”
