Latinos in the Spotlight at the Faith & Freedom Coalition Conference

The Faith and Freedom Coalition’s annual “Road to Majority” Conference was held in Washington, D.C. this past week covering controversial topics ranging from taxes to immigration. The conference, known for being very popular with social conservatives, was mainly populated with an older crowd. However, there were several pockets of diversity, and in particular there were numerous Latinos in the crowd – and on the stage.

(Originally published in Washington Examiner) I’m hopeful the recently announced Hoeven-Corker border security amendment may be the game changer we need to ensure that a supermajority of Senators will support legislation to transform America’s immigration law. That would be a good thing. We are after all, a nation of immigrants. It has always been our strength. In a nation where a vast majority is only two or three generations removed from an immigrant descendant, ours has been a history of welcoming those yearning to be free.

Obama bypasses Congress, announces climate change action plan

Bypassing Congressional action, President Barack Obama announced today he will be signing an executive order to take action against climate change. “The question now is whether we will have the courage to act before it’s too late,” President Obama said. “And how we answer will have a profound impact on the world we leave behind, not just to you, but to your children and your grandchildren. As a president, as a father and as an American, I’m here to say, we need to act.”

Pennsylvania's policy of denying in-state tuition rates to undocumented high school graduates denies many longtime state residents the opportunity to obtain a higher-paying job and contribute to the state's economy.
