(Arlington, VA) – Today The LIBRE Initiative announced the launch of a direct mail and digital campaign encouraging lawmakers to pass legislation to provide certainty to Dreamers during the upcoming “Lame Duck” session of Congress. The mail pieces and digital ads thank Republican and Democratic lawmakers who have worked in a bipartisan manner to support the effort to pass this important legislation, while encouraging the congressional leaders of both parties to act promptly to pass Dreamer legislation. Constituents of 22 lawmakers will receive these mail pieces during the Thanksgiving holiday.
This week, The LIBRE Initiative joined with Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce and Americans for Prosperity in a letter to Congressional leaders encouraging action on the Dreamers. In addition to these efforts, The LIBRE Initiative continues to visit with Members of Congress and their staff in support of the effort to pass legislation during the Lame Duck session of Congress.
Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:
“Until Congress and the president come together on legislation to provide certainty to the Dreamers, they will continue to live in uncertainty – unable to fully contribute to their families, their communities, and the nation as a whole. There is no better time to do just that than the upcoming Lame Duck session of Congress – with a legislative compromise that balances Dreamer protection with enhanced border security. During this season of Thanksgiving, we want to thank those lawmakers – in both parties – who have led their colleagues toward a bipartisan solution. And we encourage the leaders of the House and Senate to come together now.”
The lawmakers who will receive the mailers are: Representatives Pete Aguilar, Mark Amodei, Henry Cuellar, Jeff Denham, Will Hurd, Mia Love, Ben Ray Lujan, Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Dan Newhouse, Raul Ruiz, David Valadao, and Senators Susan Collins, Chris Coons, Dick Durbin, Angus King, James Lankford, Mike Rounds, and Thom Tillis.
Mailers to Speaker Ryan, Leader Pelosi, Majority Leader McConnell and Minority Leader Schumer encourage those lawmakers to lead toward a solution.
