North Carolina Lawmakers Should Pass The SAVE Act

North Carolina Lawmakers Should Pass The SAVE Act

Legislation Would Break Down Barrier to Quality Healthcare

(RALEIGH, NC) –  The LIBRE Initiative-North Carolina is calling on local lawmakers to pass The SAVE Act, legislation under consideration in the North Carolina Legislature.

The SAVE ACT would modernize healthcare by removing unnecessary restrictions on Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), so more people can access the quality healthcare they need, faster.

Richard Bethencourt, The LIBRE Initiative’s Grassroots Engagement Director in North Carolina, issued the following statement:

“The health care worker shortages across our state have been exacerbated during the pandemic, reinvigorating what we’ve known: there is too much red-tape barring qualified health care workers from practicing to their full ability, leaving many who need care stranded on waiting lists.”

He went on to add:

“Lawmakers in North Carolina should pass the SAVE Act to give patients greater access with more choices, to strengthen their health and the quality of healthcare in North Carolina.”

The LIBRE Initiative has long advocated for health care policies that are patient-centered. In December, 2020 they launched A Personal Option Plan, a healthcare plan that reimagines health care in the United States.
