LIBRE Statement on SCOTUS Vacancy

LIBRE Statement on SCOTUS Vacancy

(Arlington, VA) –  The LIBRE Initiative, an organization committed to empowering the Latino community, called on President Trump to choose a strong constitutionalist to fill the U.S. Supreme Court vacancy.

Daniel Garza, president of The LIBRE Initiative, said:

“Like all Americans, we mourn the loss of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. As the daughter of a garment factory worker, Justice Ginsburg’s meteoric rise to the country’s highest Court is a testament to her hard work, brilliance and perseverance. She is an inspiration to every American – including our country’s Latino and immigrant community.”

Garza went on to add:

“With the vacancy, the US. Constitution now charges that President Donald Trump nominate her successor. In nominating the next U.S. Supreme Court justice, President Trump should pick someone who will judge each case independently and fairly and rule based on the Constitution and the law, rather than ruling on his or her personal agenda. A good jurist will adhere to their duty to safeguard the Constitution while respecting that Congress was elected to legislate, not the courts.”
