The LIBRE Initiative Announces Policy Forum with Senator Rand Paul
(Washington D.C.) – The LIBRE Initiative announced today that it will hold a policy forum with Senator Rand Paul (KY) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The forum will take place at the College of Southern Nevada (Charleston campus) on September 17, 2015, and will provide an opportunity for members of the U.S. Hispanic community to pose their questions to a key policy maker on issues currently facing Latinos and all Americans across the nation.
Daniel Garza, Executive Director for The LIBRE Initiative released the following statement:
“The United States – and especially the Latino community – face some important public policy challenges. The economy is not delivering opportunity for all. Young people are having a harder and harder time building a career, paying off student loans, and saving for the future. At the same time, families are having difficulties finding consistent employment and have seen little improvement in wages. Our current leaders in Washington are unable to forge a consensus on how to reform immigration, balance the budget, save entitlement programs, and fix education and the health care system.
With 55 million Hispanics in the country – and growing every year – we have a lot at stake when it comes to policy changes. It’s important for our community to have the opportunity to ask questions of those who help decide government policies that directly influence our day-to-day lives. I’m pleased that The LIBRE Initiative is able to help present such an opportunity, and that Senator Paul has agreed to be the first policy maker to take part in The LIBRE Policy Forum series.”
