LIBRE Commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month 2013
"Celebrating Latino Success"
(Washington, D.C.) – As Hispanic Heritage month enters its third week, the staff and volunteers of the LIBRE Initiative continue hosting activities throughout the country with the campaign, "Celebrating Latino Success," and the values that helped us prosper in the United States. This past weekend, LIBRE hosted a Hispanic Prayer Breakfast in Orlando, FL – the first in a series of its kind – featuring Keynote Speaker, Governor Rick Scott of Florida.
The LIBRE Women's Initiative also sponsored a panel at the Hispanic Women's Corporation Conference in Arizona kicking off a series of #MsLIBRE panels that will highlight the contributions and achievements of Hispanic women of excellence to promote values such as hard work, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship among Latinas.
Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative released the following statement:
"Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to reflect on where we have been, but most importantly where we are going. Through our events at LIBRE we hope to inspire attendees to continue their contribution to our great nation and make our presence and our voices known as noteworthy contributors for generations to come in the pages of our nation's history."
LIBRE is also sponsoring the social media contest "What Makes YOU Hispanic?"- which prompts participants to send in a picture of what they feel makes them Hispanic for a chance to win a $100 gift card.
