LIBRE Applauds Occupational Licensing Executive Order

(ARLINGTON, VA) – The LIBRE Initiative, an organization committed to empowering the Hispanic community, praised the Trump Administration for enacting Executive Order, 13966, an order that mandates that federal agencies make changes to their policies to alleviate unnecessary regulatory occupational licensing burdens placed on the American people. Additionally, the executive order also calls on state lawmakers to take action to remove unnecessary barriers when it comes to occupational licensing laws at the local level.

Daniel Garza, president of The LIBRE Initiative, issued the following statement:

“Now more than ever we need to make it easier for folks to reenter the workforce or stay in their current jobs and occupations. Unfortunately, onerous occupational licensing laws make it prohibitively difficult for many Americans, including many Latinos, to make an honest living and provide for their families. The administration is right to issue today’s executive order to remove barriers that will make it easier for folks to find work.”

Garza went on to add:

“The White House is right to call on state lawmakers to action. To dramatically improve our country’s occupational licensing laws, state policymakers must take action and lead. The LIBRE Initiative is committed to working with lawmakers, from both sides of the aisle, to make this a reality.”
