House Should Focus on Viable Dreamer Compromise

(Washington, D.C.) – House leaders have put forward a plan for the House of Representatives to vote on Dreamer legislation next week. It is expected that two proposals will be considered – one of which is expected to be a compromise piece of legislation that will protect the Dreamers and enhance border enforcement. The specific provisions of this expected compromise have not yet been announced.

The LIBRE Initiative recently joined with Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce to announce a major campaign in support of action to provide certainty for the Dreamers.

Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“A solution for the Dreamers is a cause that has strong support in the House, in the Senate, and among the American people. We are thankful to those in Congress who have listened to Americans who have not faltered in calling for legislation, and to those who have consistently shown a commitment to bringing about a productive debate that will hopefully result in a long term solution on this important question. We call on Congressional Leadership and all Members of Congress to come to agreement on a compromise that can gain approval in the House, Senate, and White House to achieve permanent certainty for the Dreamers and enhanced border security – without arbitrary cuts to legal immigration.”
