Gov. Abbott’s Plans to Enact ESAs will Help Latino Texans: LIBRE

The LIBRE Initiative Will Mobilize Texas Latinos in Support of ESAs

(Austin, Texas) – Following Governor Greg Abbott’s State of the State address in San Marcos, The LIBRE Initiative, an organization committed to empowering the Latino community, issued a statement applauding the governor’s support for expanding educational freedom in the state, including enacting Education Savings Accounts (ESAs).

The LIBRE Initiative is a national and non-partisan organization founded in Mission, Texas with field offices all across the state including: El Paso, Houston, the Rio Grande Valley, Laredo, Dallas and San Antonio.

Jorge Martinez, spokesperson for The LIBRE Initiative, issued the following statement shortly after the governor’s remarks:

“As the leading Latino group in the state committed to educational freedom for all – we are ecstatic with Governor Abbott’s announcement in support of ESAs and plan to mobilize our activists and volunteers to enact ESAs this year.

Latino Texans know that a good education is the key to living out their version of The American Dream. Unfortunately, far too many families are not happy with their current educational options for their children and eager for dramatic change.

LIBRE will make the Latino voice heard in Austin this year in support of ESAs and increased educational freedom for all. The time for bold and decisive action has arrived and we are prepared to help lead this fight.”
