(Washington, D.C.) – According to a new poll by Fox News, large majorities of voters support the granting of work permits or citizenship to the Dreamers – immigrants brought here as children through no fault of their own. According to the survey of registered voters, 86 percent favor providing work permits to those under the age of 30 who were brought to the U.S. as children. Among self-identified Trump voters, 75 percent favor such a policy. The poll also finds that 79 percent of voters – including 63 percent of self-identified Trump voters – support citizenship for these immigrants – as long as they pass a background check. The poll also finds that 83 percent of voters support a system to allow undocumented immigrants working in the United States to become legal.
Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:
“This poll is the latest reminder that the American people recognize the importance of a balanced approach to our immigration challenges. When it comes to those brought here through no fault of their own, they strongly support a solution that allows those who are obeying the law and making our communities stronger to stay. This should be the approach policymakers build on in any legislative response to the challenge of the Dreamers.”
