The LIBRE Initiative-VA Applauds Criminal Justice Reform Agenda

Richmond, VA – The LIBRE Initiative – Virginia, an organization committed to removing internal and external barriers so that the Hispanic community can thrive and contribute to a more prosperous America, praised the unveiling of a new criminal justice reform agenda by Gov. Ralph Northam at the start of the 2020 legislative session.

“Virginia’s growing Hispanic community wants to see a fairer, more just and more effective criminal justice system that protects public safety while also removing unnecessary barriers that prevent certain individuals with a criminal record a chance to work and reintegrate back into society,” said LIBRE-Virginia Coalitions Director Michael Monrroy. “We look forward to working with the governor, and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, to enact positive changes to Virginia’s criminal justice system.”
