(Tallahassee, FL) – The LIBRE Initiative, an organization committed to empowering the community, issued a statement following news reports that Gov. DeSantis intends to nominate State Senator Manny Diaz Jr. to serve as Florida’s next education commissioner.

 Alian Collazos, deputy director of grassroots operations for The LIBRE Initiative issued the following statement:

 “For years, Senator Manny Diaz Jr. has been a true policy champion for Florida families everywhere who are looking for increased choice, customization, and flexibility when deciding an educational plan that works best for their child. From supporting Educational Saving Accounts to shepherding legislation that better streamlines Florida’s educational scholarship programs, Sen. Diaz has always kept his foot on the pedal advocating for effective educational policy. We urge the State Board of Education to accept Gov. DeSantis recommendation for State Sen. Manny Diaz to serve as Florida’s next education commissioner without delay.”
