President Should Honestly Acknowledge Unfulfilled Promises
Time for a Bipartisan, Results-Oriented Course

(Washington, D.C.) – In the wake of delayed executive action on immigration, today President Obama is scheduled to address the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute's Annual Awards Gala.

Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

"As President Obama addresses the Hispanic Caucus today, he's greeted by news stories about a Latino community that is disappointed and disillusioned. The key reason for this disappointment is that they do not believe they have been dealt with fairly, but instead have been used for political ends. Things will not get any better if the members of the Hispanic Caucus continue to sit idly by as the president continues to play politics on key policy priorities.

The president promised to tackle immigration reform, revive the economy, and expand health care choice while reducing costs. All of these can be accomplished, if the White House will sit down with Congressional leaders and work across the aisle. Instead – as we see with the current debate over when to issue an executive order on immigration – the president's priority is political. It is time to turn the page and focus on lasting results, achieved by legislative action with support from both sides of the aisle. U.S. Hispanics, like all Americans, deserve better."
