Ohio Families Hurt by Problems, Uncertainty in Obamacare System
Anthem is Latest Insurer to Cease Participating

(Washington, D.C.) – Insurer Anthem Inc. has announced its decision to cease offering insurance policies through the Affordable Care Act exchanges in the State of Ohio. With this decision, customers in 20 Ohio counties are likely to have no options for purchase of policies through Obamacare next year, although they retain the right to purchase insurance outside the system. Anthem and other insurers face uncertainty in projecting the cost of issuing policies, given the unsustainable structure and regulations under the law, including subsidies previously provided by the Obama Administration which  a court ruling declared in violation of the U.S. Constitution.

Ezra Escudero, Ohio Coalitions Director of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“The Affordable Care Act continues to fail Ohio families. This system simply does not work as promised, and thousands more Ohio residents face a loss of access to affordable and quality healthcare because of the broken promises. Supporters of Obamacare must be held accountable for its failures and It is time for Congress and the President to come together on real reforms, which put patients and their doctors in charge of important health care decisions, instead of relying on government to make those choices. The answer is not to funnel more and more taxpayer money into an unsustainable system that just doesn’t work.”
