New Ad Pushes Congress to Protect Dreamers via Omnibus

(Washington D.C.) – Today – after the passage of a March 5th deadline for action on Dreamers – The LIBRE Initiative is launching a new Dreamer ad featuring DACA recipient Hilario Yanez. This campaign is targeted to build support for Congress to act via the omnibus appropriations legislation to approve a permanent solution that would provide certainty for Dreamers and improvements to our border security. This ad is the second one launched by The LIBRE Initiative in recent days, following on the heels of the We Are Patriots ad announced last week. Together these ads form part of a six-figure campaign that is part of a broader effort by The LIBRE Initiative – one that includes Capitol Hill advocacy and grassroots mobilization in favor of a permanent solution.

Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“The effort to push Congress to act on a permanent solution for Dreamers is not over. We are calling on Congress to use upcoming omnibus appropriations legislation as an avenue to reach an agreement that will bring certainty to Dreamers and enhance security along the border.

We will continue to mobilize our staffers and grassroots activists across the nation to help people to call on their representatives to work across the aisle.

At present, court action has allowed DACA recipients to continue to renew in the program. But Dreamers know that court decisions can be overturned at any time, so even now they lack the certainty they need to continue building a future in our society. Failure to change the status quo would hinder economic opportunity, limit the potential of Dreamers, and contribute to insecurity at the border. The time to act is long overdue.”
