LIBRE – TX Statement Following Gov. Abbott Press Conference

(Mission, TX) – The LIBRE Initiative – Texas an organization committed to empowering the Hispanic community, released the following statement on Gov. Greg Abbott’s press conference outlining key priorities for his administration and how he plans to work with Texas lawmakers in Austin during the 2021 Legislative Session.

Jorge Martinez, director of coalitions for The LIBRE Initiative – TX, issued the following statement:

“The Latino community in Texas is looking for principled leadership from our elected officials in Austin. Now more than ever, we need lawmakers to reach across the aisle to prioritize economic recovery, improvements to our health care system, and increased educational options for all Texas families. We are happy to hear that Gov. Abbott plans to champion many of these policies this year, including pre-trial reform – one of our group’s top priorities.”

Martinez went on to add:

“We look forward to working with Gov. Abbott, and all Texas lawmakers – regardless of political party – to break down barriers for the Hispanic community in the Lone Star State.”
