The LIBRE Initiative celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

(Washington D.C.) Today marks the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated from September 15 through October 15. First commemorated as Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968 – and expanded to a full month under President Ronald Reagan – these 30 days are dedicated to celebrating the culture and contributions of the Hispanic community in the United States.

Daniel Garza, Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“As we kick off Hispanic Heritage month, I could not be prouder to be part of this extraordinary community. Hispanics, like all who have come here, have contributed so much to our great nation, and continue to do so today. Latinos have a deep and abiding love of our country, and a strong commitment to faith, family, hard work, and giving back to their communities. 

The LIBRE Initiative – dedicated to advancing prosperity in the Hispanic community – has been blessed with thousands of volunteers, who have contributed to our efforts since our founding in 2011. Throughout this month ahead, we will continue our efforts to expand the contributions we make to build a free society and stronger nation. And we will work to inform and educate our community about the critical public policy questions facing the country. Latinos represent the largest minority millennial group. We start businesses at two times the national average, and work every day to safeguard the financial future of our nation as well. U.S. Hispanics have come a long way and we aren’t stopping any time soon.”
