Leadership Required to Fix America’s Immigration Challenges

(Arlington, VA) – The president has indicated that he may issue an executive order to cancel birthright citizenship – the policy recognized under the Fourteenth Amendment which ensures that all individuals born in the United States are recognized as citizens.

Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“The president has stated his intention to use executive action to try to end birthright citizenship in this country – a proposal he first endorsed as a candidate in 2015. Then and now, we declare our opposition to this idea that goes against our principles. Our immigration laws should be updated based on the most thoughtful ideas. We remain ready to work with anyone who is willing to work seriously toward this important goal.”
