Judge Kavanaugh Will Promote Rule of Law

(Arlington, VA) – This week the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to serve on the United States Supreme Court. Judge Kavanaugh was nominated by the president to fill the seat of retired Justice Anthony Kennedy.

Daniel Garza, President of The LIBRE Initiative, released the following statement:

“As much as anyone, Latinos have a stake in preserving the integrity and transparency of our justice system, and guaranteeing equality before the law. We know that rule of law demands that judges interpret the law and the Constitution as written, rather than pursue a personal or partisan agenda. We are hopeful that this week’s hearings are conducted in a respectful and orderly manner, and with a focus on enabling undecided Senators to complete their deliberations. We believe Judge Kavanaugh’s record shows he is committed to preserving the rule of law, and interpreting the law as written. Once these hearings are completed, the Senate should move to consider his nomination promptly.”
